How to give effective feedback?

BE HONEST AND DIRECT

It doesn't feel great to give negative feedback, but the best collaborations come from open and honest communication. If something doesn't work, tell us.

DIG DEEP

Sometimes it's difficult to explain why you dislike something. It's just a gut feeling and you don't know why you feel this way. Dig deep. What puts you off? Is it the colors? Is it the font? Is it placement?

STAY CURIOUS

We're happy to explain things to you in more detail if you're not sure. And believe me, every decision we make has a reason.

STAY FOCUSED

Stay focused on your goals and who you're serving. What do they need? What would they like to experience?

BE GENEROUS WITH THE COMPLIMENTS

Tell me, who doesn't like to be told they're doing a good job? Compliment your designer - it's free!

Not so effective feedback

PROPOSING SOLUTIONS

If it's not working for you, let's talk about how we can solve it together. Trust that we have the experience and skills to fix it.

DRIPPING FEEDBACK

You might really want to share your thoughts with us as they come up, but please don't do that. Instead, consolidate your feedback and let us know when you are ready. This makes us more efficient, and we can propose a better solution when we have a big picture view.

INVOLVE YOUR COMMUNITY

You know your business best. Don't dim your own light by seeking opinions from others. We only need opinions from the founder and the founder alone. Too many chefs will ruin a pot of soup.

You're entering a collaborative relationship when you hire a service provider. To get the best results for your business, we have to communicate openly. It is also important not to take any feedback or pushbacks personally. Know that we are all working towards the same goal and not against each other.

I hope you found this guide useful for your next collaboration :D

love, Jia
